We have come a long way with technology and the internet is no exception. There is so much we can do now that we have the Internet including being able to watch free TV on your pc. There are two main methods to be able to watch tv online.
Hardware Based:
This requires having specialized hardware that is attached to your PC and are known as PCTV cards. There are two types of TV tuner cards which you can choose depending on your preference. There is one that is internal and another which is external.
The internal hardware cards are the most popularist since they are PCI based and are easy to install. They also eliminate the need for bulky hardware which is required with the externl connections. To get the best picture and audio quality the cost of the hardware can be expensive.
The external hardware usually comes in a box that will connect to your PC via a USB port or audio/video inputs. For the USB port USB 2.0 will perform the best. There are also Wireless solutions which can be used with media centers for a home theater system.
Software Based:
This requires no hardware and can be downloaded onto your PC instantly. Once it is installed the television channels are streamed through your connection. The quality of the sound and picture depends on how fast your connection is. The faster your connection, the better picture and sound you will get. A Broadband connection will deliver much improved audio and video, while a modem connection at 56k pitcher and audio quality will be less desirable.
When deciding which method is the best, most prefer the software based. There is no complicated installation processes as you simply download it from the internet to your PC and then click install. This way is also more flexible and usually less expensive.
Being able to watch free tv on your PC allows you to be able to watch TV anywhere. This comes in very handy when you are on a long trip and have nothing better to do to pass the time.
